Das Wort „Upcycling“ (deutsch: Wiederaufbereitung) definiert eine neue Modeerscheinung, die den Zeitgeist getroffen hat. Viele Gegenstände, die uns täglich umgeben, werden in andere Produkte umfunktioniert und erhalten somit einen neuen „Lebenssinn“, anstatt weggeworfen zu werden. Das reduziert die Neuproduktion, verringert den Energieverbrauch und somit die Luft- und Wasserverschmutzung.
Es ist nicht nur ein Kontrapunkt zur weltweiten Wegwerfmentalität oder eine moderne Form des Recyclings, es ist auch eine neue Kunstrichtung bzw. DIY- (do-it-yourself) Bewegung entstanden. Die Möglichkeiten sind unbegrenzt. Mit Upcycling kann man auf besonders kreative Weise Unikate aus gebrauchten Gegenständen designen. Durch neue Ideen und bestimmte Verfahren entstehen aufgewertete Einzelstücke mit ganz speziellem Charme.

Let ́s start a journey with the one of the oldest art in the world- the Japanese Art of folding paper.
What are the origins of that process we now know as ORIGAMI?
At first, Origami is the Japanese Paperart and the word include the meaning of fold- „oru“, and paper- „kami“. The exact origin of the art is unknown but we know the paper was invented in China in the first century A.D. and brought to Japan by Buddhist monks in the sixth century A.D.
There the paper folding evolved into a form of art, in the beginning in religious and ritual circumstances only. Later on it developed into a folk art. Around the 18th century also started to develop in the western world.
Today, origami is an international creative amusement and a inspiration for all kind of art. You can find the fold techniques in architecture, graphic design or fashion. Due to the diversity of polymer clay and with help of some standard tools it ́s possible to create lots of objects.

For our Lucky star we need a paper strip (e.g. Folia Basic strips 1,5 cm wide x ca. 35 cm long)
Für unser Glücksstern brauchen wir einen Streifen Papier (z.B. Folia Basic Papierstreifen 1,5 cm breit x ca. 35 cm lang)
1> Make a loop at one end of the paper strip and tighten the knot.
Mache zunächst einen lockeren Knoten und schiebe es dann so weit wie möglich zu einer Seite hin
2> Now press flat. Wenn der Knoten perfekt sitzt, drücke ihn platt
3> Fold the end of the strip down. If it is too long, tear off a small piece
Falte das noch überstehende kurze Ende des Streifens um (falls der Streifen zu lang ist, abschneiden, damit es nirgends mehr übersteht)
4.> Now wrap the other end of the strip around and around this pentagon you have formed, creasing gently as you go. Keep wrapping until you get to the end of the strip
Den langen Papierstreifen jetzt immer an der Streifenkante des Fünfecks entlang wickeln bis nur noch ein kurzes Stücken übrig ist
5.>Insert the end part to the inside of the star. Falte das übrig gebliebene Ende nach innen und stecke es in den kleien Schlitz
6.>Now to make this little pentagon into a star, use your fingernail or a pen to press on the centre of each of its edges. The star should puff out. Drücke jetzt mit deinem Fingernagel oder Kugelschreiber die Mitte einer der Kanten des Fünfecks nach innen ein. Wiederhole das bei den anderen vier Kanten. Das Sternchen ist fertig

Wähle die breiten Streifen mit Mustern und schneide mehrere Quadrate 2cm x 2cm. Dann schneide die Quadrate diagonal und versuche ein Patchwork Bild zu kreiren.
Choose the wide strips with pattern und cut several squere 2cm x 2cm. Than cut the squere diagonal and try to create a patchwork picture.

Perfect timing for preparing an Origami star box for presents! Follow the step by step instuction and find the right size for a little suprise.
Perfektes Timing für die Origami Sternenschachtel! Zeit für die Geschenke! Folge der Step-by-step Instruktion und suche die richtige Größe für eine kleine Überraschung.
Material >>> FOLIA Faltblätter JAPAN 20x20cm
1 & 2. Zuerst falte ein kleines Papierquadrat (unten rechts die Instuktion)
First fold a small paper square (below, right is the instruction)
Die Öffnung ist oben, falte eine Seite zum Mittelknick um.
Fold the top left edge to the center
Öffne die Klappe und drücke sie flach
Open the flap and flatten the bottom into a triangle
Stecke die rechte Seite unter die linke
Slip the right side under the left
Wiederhole die gleichen Schritte auf der linken Seiten/ Repeat the steps on the left side
Drehe das Blatt um und wiederhole nochmals die Schritte / Rotate the paper and repeat again the steps
Schlage die vordere und hintere Klappe so weit wie möglich nach unten, umdrehen & wiederholen
Fold the top point down, flip the paper and repeat
Ziehe die beiden innenen Klappen zur Seite und knicke sie auch nach unten um. Dabei öffnet sich die Schachtel. Drücke den Boden nach unten und fertig ist die Schachtel! / Pull out the four horns. Flatten the bottom of the box. Done!
